The Legend of Cliff Young : The 61 Year old Farmer who won the world's Toughest Race

Everyone know that Marathon Racing is a 42 km non stop racing. But there is one more Long and dangerous racing Ultra-Marathon Race which is a mind a blowing 875 km. Every year in Australia from Sydney to Melbourne this racing happens. Likewise, In 1983 A stranger came forward to participate in this marathon who even dosen't have a running dress and wore torn shoes. He too participated in the race taking 64 batch number. Looking at him everyone started laughing. Media appraoched the person and asked him who was his coach. He replied my mother is my coach. Everybody started gossiping that he must be mad or is doing it for a publicity.
                              Race started and all the runners who are participating are world class professionals and are under 30, but this person started running slowly behind them. Everybody's opinion was that he will die in a day. For a professional runner it will take 7-8 days to complete this marathon.Every professional runner know that they can run for 18 hours a day and take rest for 6 hours. Being a farmer Our stranger doesn't know that because he is not a professional and ran all day and night without any rest. By the start of next day morning he crossed Sydney and reached Mitagom but still is behind professional runners. By the end of third day he approached closer to fellow runners. By the end of 4th day he is running ahead of everyone. On the 5th day to the surprise of everyone he completed the race ahead of all World's professional runners in just 5 days 9 hours 4 minutes. This is the world record in human history. The only reason behind it is he is a farmer and does not know that they can take rest during the race. And he also dosen't know that the person who wins the race will get 10000 dollars price money. He felt bad accepting it as each of the other five runners who finished had worked as hard as he did, so he split the money equally between them, keeping none. Everyone raised him to the sky.


When media approached him to know about him, He said i am a farmer from a small village near Melbourne, we have 2000 goats, they go to different places to graze grass and leaves. During cyclones i have to hush all 2000 goats to the safest place, during this time i used to run for 2-3 days continuously, and this regularly happened in my life. I treated this Marathon race also like that only. He said his only intention is to participate in the race and be till the end. 

                   The year of the race was 1983, and during this race his age was 61 years, and the name of our stranger is "Cliff Young"
For those who want to win, age dosen't matter....
